Solution ID: prim29265 揥hat are the latest Service Packs for Primavera version 5.0??/A>

Fix:

(Version 5.0) WORKAROUND 1:

  1. Check to see if there is a Filter set for the Projects View.

     - Click: View, Filter By, Customize.

     - Ensure “All Projects” is selected.

  2. From the Projects View, highlight the Projects to be copied.

  3. Click: Copy

  4. Click: Paste
Fix:

WORKAROUND 2:

Change the Group and Sort in the Projects View to something other than EPS (i.e. List).

Fix: WORKAROUND 3:

Copy and paste multiple Projects at once.

Fix:

If you do not want to change the Grouping in the Projects View, you can add this setting to the PM.ini file on the client machine:

[OPTIONS]
UseSPToPasteProject=0

This does the same thing as ungrouping by EPS.

Event Code error: RRPFC-1726-A is generated when accessing the Roles dictionary, Prices tab
Status: Reviewed
Version(s): 5.0

Problem: RRPFC-1726-A
Problem:

Event Code error: RRPFC-1726-A is generated when accessing the Roles dictionary, Prices tab.

Cause: If you run the following command in SQL Query Analyzer

select user_col_name,logical_data_type from usercol where logical_data_type = ‘ft_qty_rate’

This will return the contents of the user_col_name and logical_data_type fields.

user_col_name          logical_data_type

———————————————————————–

cost_per_qty2           FT_QTY_RATE

cost_per_qty3           FT_QTY_RATE

cost_per_qty4           FT_QTY_RATE

cost_per_qty5           FT_QTY_RATE

It should return five rows but here it is only returning four.

Fix:

The work around is to open SQL Enterprise Manager, open the table usercol and return all rows and manually key in the first five columns leaving the other columns blank.

Here we add a new row adding the next sequential user_col_id (in this example 85), copy the contents of the table_name and logical_data_type fields and for user_col_name and user_col_label use the same values without a number at the end of each of the values.

Commit the change by clicking on the Run button   ( ! )

From a client machine open Project Management and open any project.

Click Enterprise and Roles and select the Prices tab and you will no longer get the RRPFC-1726-A error

IMPORTANT:  Ensure that you have an up to date backup of the database before applying these changes.

If the above workaround does not resolve the issue, please try manually re-typing the data into the affected row.

How to troubleshoot Update Baseline problems or errors.
Status: Reviewed
Version(s): 5.0, 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.2.1

Problem: Troubleshooting steps for Update Baselines issues.
Problem: How to troubleshoot Update Baseline problems or errors.
Problem: Event Code errors when running Update Baseline.
Problem: Update baseline is very slow.
Problem: Updating baselines takes hours to complete.
Fix: The key client files which are necessary to enable Update Baselines functionality are described in the solution link below

Solution ID: prim36958 “What files and privileges are necessary to run Update Baseline?”

Fix:

1) If after updating the baseline an error message is displayed (usually within a minute), then have the database administrator run a statement against the database to delete the update baselines config from the ADMIN_CONFIG table. The config is used by all users of the database and can return errors if the machine name, port number, IP etc of the database server is changed after the database is created or updated. The deleted config will be recreated using current database connection information the next time a user updates a baseline. See error and database statements below:

1. Backup database
2. Run following query: DELETE FROM ADMIN_CONFIG WHERE config_name=’myprimavera.bre.INTERNAL_PLUGINS’
3. Commit to database

Log out of the database after the statement is run and Update Baselines.  NOTE: If you see a status window like the one below, Update Baselines IS working properly.

2) Try logging the Update Baselines results to file to analyze what is or is not happening.

3) Make sure to File, Commit Changes to ensure that changed data on the PC is committed to the database before Update Baselines is run. It IS possible to not update a baseline from a PC that could otherwise update baselines if the data was committed.

4) Make sure that 5.0 Service Pack 1 or later is applied.

Fix:

(Oracle only)

  1. Check the version of the Oracle Client on the machine running Project Management against the version of the Oracle Server.
It is not required that they match exactly, but should be of the same release / series.

Example configuration that would probably have issues:
Client machine has Oracle 8.1.7 and connects to a Oracle Server with version 9.2.0.5.

  2. Upgrade the Oracle Client, where applicable.
For more information about software versions tested / certified by Primavera, see: Solution ID prim25905 - “What are the tested configurations for Primavera version 5.0 ?”
Fix: (Oracle only)  #2

  • Go to c:\program files\common files\primavera common\java and run admin.cmd

If you are able to connect via privuser, then please refer to Prim33868 for a possible solution.

If you are unable to connect via privuser, please check the following:

    • Launch DBCONFIG.exe and make sure that it is pointing to the actual Oracle SID (database name), and not an alias.

      • The PM client application is able to connect to the Oracle database through the use of an alias, but Baseline/Claimdigger must use the actual Oracle sid for a successful connection.
Fix: (SQL server only)

The mechanism within the Project Management application that resolves the servername and port for “INTERNAL_PLUGINS” uses the “database connection” settings in the Primavera client.

The only acceptable syntax to have for the “Host Name” in the database connection settings is:

<server_name>

(when using the default unnamed SQL instance)

or:

<server_name>\<instance_name>

(When using a named SQL instance)

This will be correctly resolved to a server name and port number which are then stored in INTERNAL_PLUGINS and used as the connection settings for the Update Baselines component of Project management.

Other syntax (which may still permit login to Project Management) will not be successfully resolved and will stop the update baselines and claim digger components from working. Examples include:

using . instead of localhost.

 e.g.”.\primavera” instead of “localhost\primavera”

using “,port” instead of an instance name

e.g. “myserver,1992″ instead of “myserver\instance1″
